Paola Cenciarelli
is one of the inspiring and innovative porcelain painters of today, and still practises her art in her studio in Rome after 25 years. In 1978 she studied with a local scenic designer and porcelain painter and was greatly influenced by the classic arts and Italian fashion style. Since 1992, she has been giving painting courses on her outstanding and diverse painting techniques, which are portrayed in this book.

At international conventions she is a highly regarded guest, and in the spring of 2004, when the trophy “Trofeo Azzurro di Como” at the International Convention for China Painting took place, she painted and presented a complete set of chess figures. This very special and immense undertaking was rewarded by her winning 2008 the annual prize awarded by the museum “Collezione delle Arti del Fuoco” (the contemporary Museum and Collection of “Fired Arts” in Nova Milanese, near Milan/Italy).

These incomparable porcelain chess figures are now on display as part of the permanent collection in this well-known museum. Her works were already portrayed in the Swiss Association of Porcelain Painters CAPP magazine - “Magie des Arts”, edited by Mr. Rodolphe Noetzli in Neuchatel, as well as in the “Posliini Plus Magazine” by Aira Suomela, Finland.

Peter Faust also devoted some pages especially to her in the first edition of his newly launched journal, which is called “Porcelain Flash”, in February 2007. To have such an acknowledgement coming from the famous Swiss porcelain painter and fellow artist was very high praise indeed!
