It is not just Sabine Grossenbacher’s scratch technique which her students in Switzerland and abroad appreciate, but also her extensive knowledge of water colours, marbleising and crackle, lustre-dipping, lustre over burnishing gold and platinum and her understanding of how different relief and excising powders are used. She enjoys attending porcelain exhibitions and taking part in competitions and this is where her excellent works of art are awarded the highest prizes by international panels of jurors in such places as Sao Paulo, Como, Lisbon and Berlin-Potsdam. Her magnificent works are adorned with butterflies with gossamer wings, orchids, and delicate roses surrounded with golden borders of flowers all with a background of complex geometrical patterns done in the most precise penwork.

Sabine’s enthusiasm for such a vast variation of different techniques is amazing, and yet she is always searching for even more and exciting new projects to work with and which have never been seen before. In her new book, she is able to explain how each piece is completed with great clarity in the step-by-step instructions and the accompanying photos show the visual details to perfection.
